Marine Care: Dos and Don’ts

Boat Canvas Cleaner

Do

  • Test on an inconspicuous area to ensure canvas is colourfast dyed. Spray mist the boat cover with water.
  • Use a clean paint brush to apply. Leave on for 10–20 minutes for general cleaning.
  • Leave on for 40–60 minutes for stubborn dirt and to previous waterproofing treatments.
  • Wear protective gloves.
  • Use as often as required.

Don’t

  • Use a power jet wash to clean a boat cover.
  • Use a detergent based cleaner.
  • Apply in direct sunlight.
  • Forget to shake the bottle prior to use.
 

Boat Canvas Reviver

Do

  • Ensure the boat is thoroughly cleaned.
  • Ensure you have sufficient Boat Canvas Reviver to complete a full coat.
  • Be diligent in removing previous waterproof coatings prior to application of Boat Canvas Reviver.
  • Keep a soft damp cloth ready to wipe off any splashes or dribbles off the deck, windows and glass.
  • Work in a timely fashion to ensure that the edges of the freshly applied Boat Canvas Reviver do not dry out too quickly.
  • Work from the centre of the boat cover and as quickly as possible progress towards each side, the front and the back of the cover.
  • Apply to a dry cover and allow Boat Canvas Reviver to dry completely before applying further product or taking out in the rain.

Don’t

  • Forget to shake the bottle and stir well prior to use.
  • Dilute or mix the Boat Canvas Reviver with any other product.
  • Apply the Boat Canvas Reviver in direct sunlight, on a warm/hot boat cover or on a warm/hot day that will cause the Boat Canvas Reviver to dry too quickly.
  • Allow to dry on the deck, windows and glass.
  • Apply to a boat cover that has been coated with a waterproofing agent without removing the proofer first.
  • Apply to vinyl boat covers.
  • Apply to one half of the boat cover first as this will achieve a join line when starting the second half of the cover!
 

Marine Ultra Proofer

Do

  • Ensure the boat cover is thoroughly cleaned.
  • Ensure you have sufficient Marine Ultra Proofer to complete a full coat.
  • Keep a soft damp cloth at hand to wipe off splashes or dribbles on the deck, windows and glass.
  • Work in a timely fashion to ensure that the edges of the freshly applied Marine Ultra Proofer do not dry out too quickly.
  • Work from the centre of the boat cover and as quickly as possible progress towards each side, the front and the back of the soft top.
  • Apply to a dry cover and allow Marine Ultra Proofer to dry completely before applying further product or taking out in the rain.
  • Use at least every 6–12 months.

Don’t

  • Use on vinyl boat covers.
  • Forget to stir (not shake!) the Marine Ultra Proofer prior to use.
  • Dilute or mix the Marine Ultra Proofer with any other product.
  • Apply the Marine Ultra Proofer in direct sunlight, on a warm/hot soft top or a warm/hot day that will cause the Marine Ultra Proofer to dry too quickly.
  • Allow to dry on the deck, windows and glass.
  • Apply to vinyl boat covers.
  • Apply water proofing agent prior to using Boat Canvas Reviver.
  • Any proofer previously applied must be completely removed first.
 

Boat Vinyl Cleaner

Do

  • Test on an inconspicuous area to ensure vinyl is colourfast dyed.
  • Use a clean paint brush or sponge to apply.
  • Leave Boat Vinyl Cleaner on for 10–20 minutes for general cleaning.
  • Leave Boat Vinyl Cleaner on for 40–60 minutes for stubborn dirt.
  • Wear protective gloves whilst applying.
  • Allow to dry before applying Marine Vinyl Ultra Proofer.
  • Use as often as required.

Marine Vinyl Ultra Proofer

Do

  • Ensure that the boat cover is thoroughly cleaned.
  • Ensure that you have sufficient Marine Vinyl Ultra Proofer to complete a full coat.
  • Keep a soft damp cloth ready to wipe off any splashes or dribbles off the deck, windows and glass.
  • Work in a timely fashion to ensure that the edges of the freshly applied Marine Vinyl Ultra Proofer do not dry out too quickly.
  • Work from the centre outwards round and round the boat.
  • Apply to a dry boat cover and allow Marine Vinyl Ultra Proofer to dry completely before applying further product or taking out in the rain.
  • Use at least every 3–6 months.

Don’t

  • Use on canvas boat covers.
  • Forget to shake the Marine Vinyl Ultra Proofer bottle prior to use.
  • Dilute or mix the Marine Vinyl Ultra Proofer with any other product.
  • Apply the Marine Vinyl Ultra Proofer in direct sunlight or on a hot day that will cause the Marine Vinyl Ultra Proofer to dry too quickly.
  • Allow to dry on the deck, windows and glass.
  • Apply to canvas boat covers.
 

Plastic Window Polish

Do

  • Apply with a clean soft polishing cloth.
  • Use small quantities of Plastic Window Polish working with circular motions in small areas a little at a time.
  • Allow Plastic Window Polish to dry then with a clean, soft cloth polish off using circular movements.
  • Apply to both interior and exterior of window.

Don’t

  • Forget to shake the bottle thoroughly prior to use.
  • Allow the Plastic Window Polish to come into contact with materials or fabric that surround the window.
